In September 2023 Hillar completed the roof truss repair. This involved installing a custom steel support bracket under each of the roof trusses, and then strengthening each truss with plywood bracing on the sides.
It turned out the original design and construction from the 1930s was pushing each truss to its structural limit, and with the water leaks over the years, the timber had started to rot and drop. This only made the leaks worse as the gutters dropped too!
By using these 5m long props, Hillar raised each truss and has not got everything back to the original levels.
Fingers crossed, it seems the leaks from sagging box gutters are now behind us.
